Listed below are the equipment requirements for the 709th Infanterie Division.
Wool tunic: m43, m42, or m40.
Wool trousers: m37 or m43 feldgrau in color.
Service shirt: Repro gray, with or without pockets.
Suspenders: Postwar Czech with braided ends.
Proper boots: Leather hobnailed jack boots, or low boots with gemaschen.
Additional info: These are probably the toughest part of the German uniform to get. There are many poor quality boots for sale today. You usually get what you pay for with this item.
Helmet: Real/repro m35, m40, or m42 in a feldgrau finish. The use of a Heer decal is discouraged.
Additional info: Real is always preferred, especially if you have a smaller head size.
Field cap: m43, m34, or m42.
Ammo pouches: Real/repro K-98 black leather pebbled grain pouches, or pouches appropriate to the weapon being carried.
Bayonet/Sheath: Real/repro S84/98 bayonet with scabbard.
Bayonet frog: Repro mounted/dismounted.
Additional info: You may want to purchase a "simplified" frog if you are planning to wear a folding shovel.
Belt: Repro rough black.
Belt buckle: Repro heer.
Bread bag: Repro M-31 breadbag.
Canteen: Real/repro M-31 continental canteen w/correct bottle and cap.
E-Tool: Real/dutch folding or converted Swiss/East German straight shovel.
E-Tool carrier: Leather repro, appropriate to the type of shovel being carried.
Gas mask canister: Real tall/short model can.
Identification disc: Repro aluminum or zinc.
Mess tin: Real/postwar smaller type.
Zeltbahn: Real/repro splinter.
Additional info: Quality varies quite a bit on these, so ask for recommendations.
Y-Straps: Repro 5 strap type.
Eating utensils: Repro spork.
Soldbuch: Repro heer.
Weapon: k98k rifle .

All new members will start out as a foreign volunteer until they are able to acquire their full kit. All members must have a full kit by their 2nd anniversary. We will try our best to accommodate you with loaner gear until you purchase your own. Some additional variations or alternatives to the required kit may be authorized for wear, but that is on case by case basis. When in doubt, do not make a purchase without consulting a 709th leader. Suggested items should be purchased AFTER the required items are purchased.
